Campaign for the King of Instruments

     HELP US REACH OUR GOAL!

Join FOKO in our efforts to ensure a complete renovation of the Kotzschmar Organ after its Centennial Festival Celebration! Help sustain our concert offerings and educational programs to secure the future of the Kotzschmar Organ. As of April 12, 2013 FOKO needs to secure  $300,000 to complete the project.

After an intensive expert review of the organ over six months, and long-term planning by FOKO Trustees, the organization seeks funding for the following priorities:

Organ Renovation: $2,600,000
Rebuilding the Universal Windchest to produce an airtight organ which supports over 6,800 pipes, and creates all the actions that allow air to flow through the pipes. This enormous chamber needs to be terrifically strong to withstand the pressure which allows the organ to resound throughout Merrill Auditorium. After 100 years, it is compromised beyond in situ repair.

Every one of the nearly 7,000 pipes needs cleaning or restoration.

Key action is original to 1912 and 1927, and is in need of restoration.

Centennial Activities: $100,000
FOKO is offering a unique six-day Centennial Festival for the organ’s 100th year. It will continue to offer concerts and education programs around the state while the organ is undergoing renovation. Funding is sought to help support robust programming during this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Municipal Organist and Curator Endowment: $900,000
This new endowment will ensure resources are available for proper maintenance and performance after the organ’s renovation.

Education and Visiting Artist Endowment: $400,000
This endowment will supplement the Russell I. Burleigh Fund to support programs which feature internationally-recognized artists and FOKO’s expanding education programs.

As of April 12, 2013 FOKO needs to secure  $300,000, to complete the project and $4,000,000 by the time the organ has been renovated in 2014, to ensure its quality concerts and program during the Kotzschmar Organ’s next 100 years.
