11th Municipal Organist Search Begins

On January 3, 2017, FOKO announced the part-time position of 11th Municipal Organist for the City of Portland, Maine. The Municipal Organist serves as the ambassador of the Kotzschmar Organ for the greater Portland, Maine, community and is one of only two municipal organist positions in the United States.

The application deadline is February 28, 2017. Five finalists will be chosen by April 1, 2017, and will then be invited for live auditions and interviews. The winner of the auditions will be selected by July 1, 2017.

Duties include concerts, selection of guest artists, membership on committees, some administrative duties, and other responsibilities as outlined in the job description.

Founded in 1981, the Friends of the Kotzschmar Organ (FOKO), a non-profit organization, supports the Kotzschmar Organ. The Friends of the Kotzschmar Organ maintains and preserves the organ, in addition to producing and promoting concerts, and managing the Kotzschmar Memorial Trust Scholarship.
