Renaissance Voices

Renaissance Voices is a 21-voice, auditioned, a cappella chorus based in Portland, Maine. We specialize in music from the medieval period through the 17th century, but our performances regularly feature more contemporary work, including premieres of pieces by both new and established composers. Concerts also feature short readings that complement the themes of the musical selections.

Distinctive to our group’s mission is an ongoing commitment to presenting the works of women composers. We offer two concert programs a year, one in December, presenting primarily sacred music appropriate to the Christmas season, and another in spring and early summer, featuring a more secular repertoire. Renaissance Voices is comprised of both professional and experienced amateur musicians, and enjoys an ever-widening fan base from throughout southern and central Maine.

Audience Feedback:

“Bravo, bravo! When music-making is so technically mastered, the beauty offered is Grace; one is not sure where or when she is going to be had. I was had many times.”
