Be an Ambassador for the Kotzschmar Organ

Docents play a huge role in helping FOKO support their mission of preserving, maintaining and promoting the Kotzschmar Organ by acting as Ambassadors for this musical treasure of Portland.

What do FOKO docents do?

They take people of all ages inside the Kotzschmar Organ for fun and informative tours.

 

They help with activities during family concerts.
They will soon be helping people of all ages to build a working pipe organ.

 

The Friends of the Kotzschmar Organ are holding Docent training workshops on July 31st, 2018 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM and August 8th, 2018 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM. These are two, two-hour meetings a week or so apart for training about the fabulous pipe organ at Merrill Auditorium. You do not need to be an organist, musician or engineer to participate in providing information about the pipe organ to our visitors. It is so rewarding to hear people end their tours with comments like “Awesome!” or ” I never knew this existed!”

Founded in 1981, the Friends of the Kotzschmar Organ (FOKO), a non-profit organization, supports the Kotzschmar Organ. The Friends of the Kotzschmar Organ maintains and preserves the organ, in addition to producing and promoting concerts, and managing the Kotzschmar Memorial Trust Scholarship.
