The Kotzschmar Organ
The Kotzschmar Memorial Organ is one of the grandest and most celebrated pipe organs in the world. One of only two municipal pipe organs in the U.S., its home is in the historic Merrill Auditorium in the Arts District of Portland, Maine. With incredible power and range, the Kotzschmar Organ offers many concerts and events throughout the year featuring top guest artists from around the world.
The Kotzschmar Organ is a versatile instrument, a marvel of sound and architecture. The organ’s repertoire is the largest among any solo instrument, capable of playing musical genres from classical to jazz to rock. Because of this range, the Kotzschmar Organ appeals to every kind of music lover, from children and adults to amateur listeners and music experts.

In addition to a roster of ever changing concert themes, guest performers and collaborations, a series of annual events featuring the Kotzschmar Organ have attracted a substantial fan following over the years. These include a Halloween silent film accompanied by a thrilling live organ soundtrack, a Christmas celebration featuring a broad array of special local and national guests, and an annual Bach Birthday Bash each March.
